The Mazda3 is IMHO, the most attractive compact sedan or hatchback in America under $35K. On the downside, it’s been a while since Mazda made any significant changes to their smallest sedan. The result is that the Mazda 3 is big on style, big on handling feel but short on power and some of the […]
The CX-5 has long been a favorite at AoA for it’s fun to drive nature but for 2017 Mazda turns the heat up. The already good looking crossover wears new sheetmetal that’s more attractive than before and virtually every part of the compact CUV gets a tweak. The bod is stiffer, the suspension is softer, […]
It’s hard to tweak perfection, but Mazda decided to try with the 2017 MX-5 RF hard top. Ditching the canvas top will no doubt make purists cringe but the truth is that although it does dull the MX-5 slightly, it makes the affordable roadster attractive to a broader audience. The real question is: can a […]
Mazda’s CX-9 continues the Zoom-Zoom brand’s tradition of creating mainstream alternatives that are as engaging as they are practical. The CX-9 may not be the fastest 3-row crossover on sale but it is one of the best handling and one of the most roomy inside. In addition to what we have come to expect from […]
The CX-9 is the family friendly crossover with a touch of Mazda’s handling magic. For 2016 they have also added a new twist: a 2nd row seat that can stay in place with a child seat attached.
With excellent handling, sharp looks and a reasonable price tag, the new Mazda CX-9 is the cure for the average 3-row crossover. The last CX-9 was no slouch, but the new model brings a world-class interior, more gadgets and significantly improved fuel economy. All I could wish for is a more powerful engine.
With little real competition, why bother with a redesign at all? Excellent question. If my penny-pinching self had been in charge, Mazda would still be selling you the older Miata with a new infotainment system and a few new color options. Be glad I’m not running Mazda. Instead, we get a new take on the […]
It’s not always the best value, but it’s always the most fun: The CX-5 has been refreshed for 2016 and that put it at the top of our list.
How well do child seats fit in the CX-5? It’s a little tight but it will work as long as one of the folks up front is shorter than 5’10” or so.
The mainstream compact car segment is the perfect example of the infamous “driving appliance.” The Corolla and Civic sell in enormous volume because they are the middle-of-the-road “white bread” option, not in-spite of the vanilla. Unlike many in the automotive press, I don’t find anything wrong with that. In fact, I love me some Wonder […]
